Our Story

Founded in 2008, Sussex Law Solicitors was built on a simple belief: that everyone deserves access to high-quality legal advice without the intimidation or complexity often associated with traditional law firms.

From our office in Patcham, we’ve helped over 1,000 clients navigate some of life’s most important moments — buying their first home, protecting their families through wills and powers of attorney, and planning for the future.

John Burrowes

John leads Sussex Law Solicitors with a commitment to providing accessible, professional legal services to the Brighton and Sussex community. His vision has shaped the firm's client-first approach. John has very many years’ experience having been a solicitor for nearly 50 years. He has practiced in most disciplines in his early years settling into commercial property and commercial matters for the last 30 years. He has extensive experience in the management and running of law firms and has always been at the forefront of embracing technology within law.

Steve joined Sussex Law as Practice Manager in 2015 and is responsible for the firm's operational and financial management. A key part of Steve's role is managing the firm's regulatory and compliance framework. He works closely with the partners to ensure Sussex Law meets its professional and statutory obligations, maintaining robust policies, procedures and risk management systems. With a practical, hands-on approach and a strong focus on continuous improvement, Steve plays an important role in supporting both the firm's people and its long-term success.
